ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT - Written by an Indian Software Engineer

ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT........

WRITTEN BY AN INDIAN SOFTWARE ENGINEER....

A Bitter Reality

As the dream of most parents I had acquired a degree in

Software Engineering and joined a company based in USA, the

land of braves and opportunity. When I arrived in the USA, it

was as if a dream had come true.

Here at last I was in the place where I want to be. I decided I

would be staying in this country for about Five years in which

time I would have earned enough money to settle down in India.

My father was a government employee and after his retirement,

the only asset he could acquire was a decent one bedroom apt.

I wanted to do some thing more than him. I started feeling

homesick and lonely as the time passed. I used to call home and

speak to my parents every week using cheap international phone

cards. Two years passed, two years of fast food at McDonald's and

pizzas and 2 years watching the foreign exchange

rate getting happy whenever the Rupee value went down.

Finally I decided to get married. Told my parents that I have

only 10 days of holidays and everything must be done within

these 10 days. I got my ticket booked in the cheapest flight.

Was jubilant and was actually enjoying hopping for gifts for

all my friends back home. If I miss anyone then there will be

talks. After reaching home I spent home one week going through

all the photographs of girls and as the time was getting

shorter I was forced to select one candidate.

In-laws told me, to my surprise, that I would have to get

married in 2-3 days, as I will not get anymore holidays. After

the marriage, it was time to return to USA, after giving some

money to my parents and telling the neighbors to look after

them, we returned to USA.

My wife enjoyed this country for about two months and then she

started feeling lonely. The frequency of calling India

increased to twice in a week sometimes 3 times a week. Our

savings started diminishing.

After two more years we started to

have kids. Two lovely kids, a boy and a girl, were gifted to us

by the almighty. Every time I spoke to my parents, they asked

me to come to India so that they can see their grand-children.

Every year I decide to go to India... But part work part

monetary conditions prevented it. Years went by and visiting

India was a distant dream. Then suddenly one day I got a

message that my parents were seriously sick. I tried but I

couldn't get any holidays and thus could not go to India ... The

next message I got was my parents had passed away and as there

was no one to do the last rights the society members had done

whatever they could. I was depressed. My parents had passed

away without seeing their grand children.

After couple more years passed away, much to my children's

dislike and my wife's joy we returned to India to settle down.

I started to look for a suitable property, but to my dismay my

savings were short and the property prices had gone up during

all these years. I had to return to the USA...

My wife refused to come back with me and my children refused to

stay in India... My 2 children and I returned to USA after

promising my wife I would be back for good after two years.

Time passed by, my daughter decided to get married to an

American and my son was happy living in USA... I decided that

had enough and wound-up every thing and returned to India... I

had just enough money to buy a decent 02 bedroom APT in a

well-developed locality.

Now I am 60 years old and the only time I go out of the APT is

for the routine visit to the nearby temple. My faithful wife

has also left me and gone to the holy abode.

Sometimes

I wondered was it worth all this?

My father, even after staying in India,

Had a house to his name and I too have

the same nothing more.

I lost my parents and children for just ONE EXTRA BEDROOM.

Looking out from the window I see a lot of children dancing.

This damned cable TV has spoiled our new generation and these

children are losing their values and culture because of it. I

get occasional cards from my children asking I am alright. Well

at least they remember me.

Now perhaps after I die it will be the neighbors again who will

be performing my last rights, God Bless them.

But the question

still

remains 'was all this worth it?'

I am still searching for an answer.................!!!

START THINKING

IS IT JUST FOR ONE EXTRA BEDROOM???

LIFE IS BEYOND THIS .....DON'T JUST LEAVE YOUR LIFE ........

START LIVING IT ........

LIVE IT AS YOU WANT IT TO BE ......

61st Indian Independence Day - 15th August Independence Day Celebration

To celebrate 61st Indian Independence Day - 15th August, 2008 I'll start this blog post with the speech given by our First Prime Minister Late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru at midnight on August 14, 1947.

'Awake to freedom' "Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially.

At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, then an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.

At the dawn of history India started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her striving and the grandeur of her successes and her failures. Through good and ill fortune alike she has never lost sight of that quest or forgotten the ideals which gave her strength. We end today a period of ill fortune and India discovers herself again.

The achievement we celebrate today is but a step, an opening of opportunity, to the greater triumphs and achievements that await us. Are we brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the challenge of the future?
If you are intrested to read full speech you can find it over TheHolidaySpot.com

I have been publishing 15th, August Independence Day posts every year started last year to celebrate Independence Day . However you will find my few blog post on Mailindia Blog, since mostly I find myself busy writing posts over SEO Industry related blog.

Being Indian and Proud to be Indian - I can't let myself down away by not writing about my country and that too on very special occassion of "15th August - Independence Day", I decided to write this blog post by today itself (Ooops - it's 2 am almost) - At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India(myself) will awake to life and freedom :-)

I think I don't need to share what importance 15th August brings to every Indian's life and we are able to live our life with freedom just beacuse of all the struggle and pain taken by our forfathere's, Freedom fighters to make their coming generation live freely.

But looking at todays political scenario where Indian's are looking divided on issues based on caste, religion, region and don't know what more......

I am not into politics nor I beleive on discriminating individuals based on caste or religion and above all I am Indian first and wish every person of this country try to understand this huge responsibility of Freedom.....

There are lot more things happening all these days which disturbs every Indian (I guess?) but it's better not to rage my anger on Independence Day and even I don't think it's a platform to raise voice agaist such issues.

I will close this post with our National Anthem:-

Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka Jaya he
Bharata Bhagya Vidhata
Punjab Sindhu Gujarata Maratha
Dravida Utkala Banga

Vindhya Himachala Yamuna Ganga
Ucchala Jaladhi taranga
Tava Subha Naame Jaage
Tava Subha Asisha Maange
Gahe Tava Jaya Gatha

Jana Gana Mangal Dayaka Jaya he
Bharata Bhagya Vidhata
Jaya he Jaya he Jaya he
Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya he

Have a happy Independence day, Jai Hind !! - "Mera Bharat Mahan"

Afzal Khan

If you have desire & will, Nothing can stop you. If you can dare to Dream and are committed to explore future challenges even an ordinary Man can achieve great heights and that's is something unique about this person. He is travelling on Bicycle with his wife and can you believe he is 65 Years of age.

Mr Bholadas the man with burning desire & dream to travel each and every village of India at the age of 65. Along with him, his life partner Mrs. Phoolbai giving him full support.

They started their journey for a noble cause of spreading peace among fellow Indians. His mission is to spread the universal message, Peace On Earth,Peace in India to empower, uplift and awaken the Indian consciousness of our human family.

India is always being peace loving country, but somehow due to political influence, aggressivenes of fundamentalist our country is losing it's ancient identity. With the thought of a Better India where every individual respects each other, having respect for every religion, irrespectiveof regional differences People proud to be Called themselves first as Indians inspite of being from Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu,Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab or Uttar Pradesh. Whatever our religion may be Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Parsi or Sikh
We all are at first INDIANS

Mr Bholadas & Mrs Phoolbai started with this mission on 24th December 2006, from there native village Parkaj, Distt. Shahdol (M.P)They decided to choose Bicycle as their mode of transport to travel India.

My First Meet with Mr Bholadas & Mrs PhoolBai.
You can say, it was my luck that I got the opportunity to meet them. I met with them on 3rd May 2008 near a Tea- stall, where nearbyI went for some work. Suddenly his bicycle as shown in the picture attracted me & compelled me to go to take a closer view. After that I came to know about Mr Bholadas & his mission.

I was surprised and very much impressed with his Noble Mission. I was so impressed that I planned to write about him on my Blog, after that we exchanged words, with patience I listen his thoughts & taken up some snaps.

I throwed him some question which were obvious to come into my mind like:-

How do you manage to have your Food?

What about if you felt sick?

How do you manage to have money on your journey? and many more...

He answered to all of my questions & shared with me one great thing that how much we may progress but at the core of our heartwe are Indians & We will be always.

Indians mean - people who love to support, who know how to live with peace, who are emotional yet stronger.

With Mr. Bholadas - the man on Mission!

I asked to him about his idea of travelling by bicycle, taking along with him his wife at this age & to which places he has travelled across his journey since last 1 year 6 months .

He told me that he started his journey from Allahbad and has visited Kashi, Ayodhya, Maihar, Chitrakoot, Agra, Mathura. Delhi, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Ludhiana, Vaishnodevi, Jhansi, Gwalior, Indore, BHOPAL and many more places.

I salute him & his desires to make Indians united always. I request to all you people to spread this message, probably you can also catch him next in your City.

Good Luck Mr Bholadas & Mrs PhoolBai.
