View of the Diwan-I-Khas from the east. The purpose of this building is widely debated, as will be seen in next series of images. Externally the building is squarish with four similar facades measuring 13.2 meters each side. The facades are broken into upper and lower stories by a "jali" balcony that extends around the building. The roof is topped with four domed "chhatri" (kiosks) at each of the corners. There may have once been a central dome, as depicted in a contemporary miniature painting, but no solid evidence of this has been found.
